Girl and the Heron King

Hello everyone!

It's been a busy month of painting, here's a new illustration I call Girl and the Heron King. Below are close-ups and photos of the process.

Here are a few of my sketches. I wanted the girl to be riding a large majestic bird, a Great Blue Heron seemed like an ideal choice.

I built a model out of Sculpty, card stock, and paper towels to figure out lighting and perspective.

I did several color studies to decide what elements to use.

Milo's Garden, Pages 22 & 23

Here are more process photos for Milo's Garden. In this image, a gang of dubious (yet very jolly) characters are stealing a tree that grows musical instruments. As with the previous illustrations from this project, I used acrylics and color pencils to render the finals.

Three New Paintings and Process Photos

Howdy Folks!

Boy, things have been busy since my last post! I have three new paintings to share with you, I redesigned my website, and I'm graduating from college! Wow wee!

Here are the three new paintings. You can view them here or view them on my spiffed up website:

This one here is an illustration for the first "Doctor Dolittle" Book.

This one is an illustration for a children's book I'm working on.

While I was painting the third, I took some random pictures of the process. So please enjoy the painting of "Sam's Repair Shop" reverse!

The finished piece!
